Hybrid robot UGV-UAV

The project is aimed at designing and validating a new concept of a hybrid mobile robot UGV-UAV (Unmanned Ground Vehicle – Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) which allows increasing substantially the existing mobility degree in the actual robots.

Land properties impose serious limitations on the mobility of robots (mobility in the broader sense refers to the performance of the robot relative to the field, ability to negotiate and avoid obstacles, ability to overcome rough terrain and crossing streams).

The combination of two systems of locomotion in a unique hybrid system provides speed, controllability and autonomy of a land mobile platform, adding the mobility of a system able to fly.

The project, carried out in collaboration with the Group of Robotics and Vision Intelligent Rovira i Virgili University (URV), is funded by the Industry, Tourism and Commerce Ministry included in its National Plan for Scientific Research, Development Research and Technological Innovation 2008-2011 (reference number TSI-020100-2010-970).
